Google vs Microsoft— who do ya got?

with love, from a Google Suites “Stan”

How can one transition from the suite of Google products to Microsoft’s offerings?

This is me asking for a friend, because I refuse to make the permanent move as a Google native/early adapter/all of the above. You see, at my current work position— which started with me adjusting to Microsoft Outlook and OneDrive, we transitioned to Google’s Suite of apps after 2 or so years (making me the happiest employee — you could even say I was on Google Cloud 9). I hope you got that. Even though we were still in the office physically for work, I loved the accessibility as well as my ability to save everything on the cloud to refer back to whenever and wherever I was at the time.

Fast forward another 2 years, for reasons beyond my pay grade, we are now back on Microsoft— and I have been in a state of resistance for a couple of months now. Calendar planning is not the same. In fact, for some odd reason, some of my older calendar items still appear from years back. Compatibility with other APIs is a drag. “Click here to join meeting” - still won’t work for me when I try to hop on from the calendar. I know they originated with Documents and Worksheets, but the look and feel of Microsoft takes some adjusting to after the cleaner look of Google documents. It goes on and on.

I guess the real question is— how can a loyal user be open-minded about a different product in use? Is it even possible to switch wholeheartedly? Maybe the key here is open-mindedness which can apply for all technologies in all of the ways it can be adopted and embraced.

I found some great peer insight without my biased take from Gartner’s comparison between Google and Microsoft. Let me know what you think!
