bloom where you are planted

locking in on education reform, library funding & support, business sustainability and innovation for the next few years... which comes at the right time because i start an mba program in september (which happens to be at a local uni).

may be the best thing to happen to me -- considering i had a strong desire to come back home - here - if i ever ended up north (at that other institution) ... i'm more than eager to help tackle some of the longstanding issues that plague a bankrupt city -- socially and economically - in one creative way or another ... there's too much at stake now - and they certainly can't wait.

i'm looking forward to forging relationships with local organizations and to learn from local business leaders ... i'd like to reach out to my peers who've moved away to establish their own careers and encourage them to come back and contribute to the revival of the region.  most significantly, i'd like to inspire the youth to dream bigger and to love both the arts and sciences.

for the past 3 or so years, i've been obsessed with bringing about a new renaissance starting with the youth and public education.  we need the next generation to hone in on their creative and analytic skills.  we'll have to place a priority on the student's work and not so much on their test scores.  there's a lot that needs to be done,  but i can pinpoint and help create some programs that could be easily implemented here, and in other parts of the world.
